Hello, I'm Gomaloca, brand designer, illustrator & art director based in Barcelona.

I grew up drawing in sunny Costa Rica. For a long time, I just didn't know it could be the whole job.

I spent ten years as a designer: five in advertising agencies, five in startups building brands from scratch. Every time, the projects I cared about most were the ones where I got to draw. A mascot, a packaging illustration, a campaign character. That's when brands stopped looking designed and started feeling alive.

In 2019 I moved to Barcelona to do a master's in comics and illustration, and I never left. It's where drawing stopped being the side of my work and became the center of it.

I started building brands that way, first my own. Faunajam, my vegan apparel brand, and Café de Contrabando, a specialty coffee brand, taught me what founders go through: tight budgets, big hopes, and a brand that has to work on a shelf, a shirt and a screen at the same time.

Now I do it for other founders. You get one person for identity, illustration and art direction, and no handoffs. I work from Barcelona with clients anywhere, in English, Spanish and French.
